Senior Design Engineer, Sunfire.com June 1998 – Feb 2011 Sunfire – division of Elan Home Systems, Snohomish, Washington Designed series of Audio Video Receiver products with Dolby Digital
decoding, HDMI switching, digital video format conversion, switchmode power amplifiers and bus-controlled remote
touch panels. Experienced in Freescale and Cirrus DSP
system implementation. Worked with software engineers in debugging and
maintaining embedded C code. Experienced in getting products through CE and
TUV safety approval process and Dolby / DTS / Sirius qualification. Designed
high power switchmode amplifiers for consumer use.
Laid out over a dozen complex circuit boards using Mentor Graphics PADS pcb layout software. Systems Design Engineer Jan 1980 – June 1998 Carver Corporation, Lynnwood, Washington Designed innovative cost-competitive audio amplifier and signal
processing products for the consumer and pro-audio market, using switchmode technology and microprocessor control. Co-inventor of dual diversity FM car radio
antenna switcher. Did senior level planning and budgeting for 21 person
engineering team. Saw projects through entire development process from
inception onward including safety approvals and pilot / production
engineering support. Previous Employment June 1973 – January 1980 Worked as broadcast TV switcher at KINY-TV in Juneau, Alaska. Worked as broadcast technician at KIMA-TV in Yakima, Washington. Worked as test and repair technician at WESMAR in Seattle, Washington. Worked as test and repair technician at Proctor and Associates in Redmond, Washington. Summer jobs in college: Pacific NW Bell / central office technician, TV repair shop technician. OTHER ACTIVITIES Designed, built and operated my own ham radio equipment from 1969 – 1991. Designed and maintaining my own website, Infinitespectra.com, specializing in audio application test and measurement freeware that I wrote in Visual Basic.
